Most of my nearly 30 years as a realtor has been spent buying and selling homes in the vibrant neighbourhoods of Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam and Port Moody. It’s been amazing watching the market conditions change in the Tricities over the last three decades.
Looking for an urban lifestyle in the suburbs? The trendy Newport Village, Klahanie and Suterbrook areas of Port Moody are where many downtown Vancouver transplants end up. With five breweries now making up the infamous Brewers Row, multiple skytrain stops, a West Coast Express station taking you straight downtown and beautiful trails every direction you go, it’s hard not to fall in love with Port Moody. The city also has many studios, galleries and artistic performances so is aptly dubbed, the “City of the Arts.”
The ever-expanding city of Coquitlam, everything here at your doorstep. Coquitlam has every convenience you need. The area around Coquitlam Centre is a hub of activity. Around the mall, there is Douglas College, the beautiful Lafarge Lake, a library, a swimming complex and tons of restaurants and stores. Up on the hill is Westwood Plateau where you can find beautiful homes along with two golf courses. Farther east you have Burke Mountain, filled with young family, a brand new elementary school and beautiful parks. And in south Coquitlam you’ll find beautiful neighbourhoods like Ranch Park, super convenient areas near Lougheed Highway and Highway 1 and growing areas like Burquitlam. There really is something for everyone.
Port Coquitlam is an affordable, family friendly, green space filled city. It’s the perfect spot to raise your children. With many schooling options including French Immersion, a Francophone school, the Christian Academy and highly ranked neighbourhood schools, you’ll feel comfortable knowing your kids are getting the best education for your family. A new recreation centre is being built in downtown Port Coquitlam. The building will house a library, leisure pool, three ice rinks, fitness centre and more. And my favourite part about Port Coquitlam – the expansive trail and park network. From a bike ride along the dyke with a view of the river and mountains to a walk around Blakeburn Lagoons to spot all the different birds, there’s something for everyone.
Port Moody, Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam are extremely convenient places for commuters to live. With the Evergreen Skytrain Line extending through Port Moody into Coquitlam, Westcoast Express stations in each city and community buses through all the neighbourhoods, transit is more accessible than ever before. Easy access to Highway 1 via the Mary Hill Bypass or Lougheed Highway makes driving easier.
